Sometimes it seems like no matter what I do my hair is always tangled, frizzy, and/or splitting at the ends – and it drives me insane! Is it from all the years of dying it every possible color? Or because of the few times I got it chemically straightened? Could it be from using straighteners and curling irons to style it all the time? Well… I can say that doing those things definitely didn’t contribute to having healthy hair.
I don’t have a time machine to go back to my 16-year-old self and un-bleach my black hair but I can focus on getting my hair healthy again and this is exactly what I have been doing. I have tried high end salon products, drugstore products, and I have even tried not using hot tools, letting it air dry, and styling my hair wet. The combo of kicking my bad habits and using quality products have helped but through it all I never seem to find my go-to products. I love trying new products so this definitely plays a role in not being entirely committed to one brand or line of products but I think this may have just changed!
I received the opportunity to try L’oreal’s EverPure Repair & Defend line of products for free from Influenster in exchange for a review. I was super excited about this opportunity because the products from the EverPure line are 100% vegan, paraben-free, and made with natural botanicals as opposed to harsh sulfates, salts, and surfactants. This line is marketed as L’oreal’s first sulfate-free color-care system for damaged, color-treated hair. These products are formulated with L’oreal’s exclusive antioxidant complex – acai, goji, and a UV filter to repair and strengthen the hair while keeping the color pure and protected from color aggressors, UV rays, water, and heat styling. I do not need my hair to become any more dull or damaged then it is so I hopped on this opportunity as fast as lightening and within a week I had the shampoo, conditioner, hair mask, and repair lotion in my hands!

“No way” was literally my first thought after using the combo. No way was my hair this silky, this healthy looking, and almost entirely frizz-free. I think what caught my attention the most was how well it air dried. My hair is usually frizzy and wavy when I let it air dry and there are very few products that control the frizziness. I think that my frizz stems from the damage and since this line of products treats damaged hair, it totally worked to tame the frizz! Viola!
Aside from being frizz-free after the wash, I noticed my hair was super clean, silky, shiny, smelt amazing, and looked a lot healthier. The shampoo was gentle on my fragile hair and it lathered and cleaned really well. When I used the conditioner it was like using the world’s best detangler product! The hair mask was super easy to use and made my hair softer than it already was after using the conditioner. The icing on the cake is the leave-in lotion, and may I repeat lotion! This was not a serum or oil and did not leave my hair greasy at all. I think this lotion really helped with my split ends too! I slept on the wash and when I woke up the next day I was a surprised about how good it still looked and smelled! With the quality in mind, I was expecting that the products would retail a little on the hire end but was astonished to see that they are extremely affordable! The shampoo and conditioner average at $6.99 while the hair mask and repair lotion retail at $8.99. For these prices, these products are a must-try!
At this point, I’m sure you’re wondering about the cons but I really can’t say anything bad about this line of products! What I can say is that if I could change one thing I think I would change the intensity of the scent. The scent wasn’t what I was expecting in the first place but wasn’t a bad scent at all – more like a “I just left the salon scent.” I am not very sensitive to smells and I do think these products smell great – just also very strong – I found myself asking my friends and boyfriend, “Can you smell my hair from there?” So this can be a pro or a con, depending on your personal preference.
When using these products together I do find that the results are amazing, even after the first wash, and I will continue to use them. If you’re looking for an affordable, easy-to-use hair care regime for damaged, colored or chemically treated hair I highly recommend giving this line a shot!
